Mission Statement

Saxonburg Memorial Church Preschool will provide a warm, loving Christian environment in which children can learn and grow.

We will reach out to the community to be inclusive, non-judgmental, and accepting.

The preschool believes that a developmentally appropriate program provides children with educational experiences which enhance their growth and abilities. We believe that each child is unique, it is our goal to provide activities and materials designed to promote “hands on” learning. The staff will strive to provide each child with the skills and self-confidence they need to succeed.

Our staff will function as facilitators to accomplish the above goals. We believe that play is a child’s way of discovery and learning. Children are provided with opportunities to learn through play using techniques such as floor time, parallel to group play, creative play, and role play to achieve the following goals:

1. Achieve a positive separation from home

2. Foster positive self-concept and self-understanding

3. Encourage children to think, reason, question, and experiment

4. Develop social skills and ability to function in large and small groups

5. Encourage language development

6. Encourage physical development and motor skills

7. Encourage sound health, safety, and nutritional practices

8. Encourage creative expressions and music/art appreciation

9. Respect cultural diversity

10. Gain understanding and appreciation of the world they live in

11. Engage in appropriate readiness activities

Parents are an integral part of our program. We believe that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers. Their input and information about their child is continually sought and valued. We would like you and your child to have a successful year. Parents will be kept informed and entertained during the year with orientation, parent conferences, and special parent presentations.
