Mission & Vision

"To shine the light of Jesus Christ; to discover, experience, and share His love with our community and world."

We are renewing our mission and vision at SMPC. It's an exciting time to be a part of this church family! On Sunday, March 14, 2021, Pastor Doug shared with us about some of the big ideas behind this initiative. Below are his remarks.

There are a couple major reasons behind this minute for mission.

The first is to remind you of the meetings we had back in October & November of last year that Don Shar reminded us of them at the congregational meeting.

In those meetings we discussed a lot of things that we were doing well here and some things that we are falling short on. A couple outcomes of that meeting were that we re-evaluated our mission statement And we will be sharing our new mission statement with you little by little. We will be giving you clues each week to try and figure it out.

The other major decision that came out of these meetings was for our church to go to two services. Beginning on May 23rd the day of Pentecost this year the first service will be at 8:00 AM here in this building and will be a traditional service, and the second service will be here at 10:00 AM and will be a blended service.

Our goal for the hour in between is to have our congregation socialize between 9:00 and 10:00 AM. We are excited to have made this decision and hope that you will join us in that excitement. We believe that worship is better in person…so come join us.

Here are some Scripture texts that inspired this mission statement.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””
