Mission & Vision

NEW MISSION STATEMENT

"To shine the light of Jesus Christ; to discover, experience, and share His love with our community and world."

RENEWING OUR MISSION & VISION

We are renewing our mission and vision at SMPC. It's an exciting time to be a part of this church family! On Sunday, March 14, 2021, Pastor Doug shared with us about some of the big ideas behind this initiative. Continue below to find out what this is all about.

There are a couple major reasons behind this minute for mission.

The first is to remind you of the meetings we had back in October & November of last year, that Don Shar reminded us about at the congregational meeting. In those meetings we discussed a lot of things that we are doing well here, and identified some areas where we have been falling short. A major outcome of those meetings were that we re-evaluated two key concepts: our mission statement, and our Sunday morning service structure.

We're very excited about our new mission statement! You can read it at the top of this page, and below are some supporting Scripture texts that inform the statement.

By God's grace, our leadership team has been led to a decision on an important item for our church. Beginning on May 23rd - Pentecost Sunday - we will have TWO SUNDAY SERVICES. The first will be a traditional service at 8:00 AM, and the second will be a blended service at 10:00 AM. Both will take place in the larger, newer church building. Our goal for the hour between services is to provide opportunity for our full congregation - attenders to BOTH services - to socialize and share time together.

We are excited to have made this decision and hope that you will join us in that excitement.

We believe that worship is better in person…so come join us!

Here are some Scripture texts that inspired this mission statement.

"To shine the light of Jesus Christ..."

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

"...to discover, experience..."

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

"...and share His love with our community and world."

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””
